As 2022 ends, we can reflect on what we’ve accomplished this past year and share our plans for the future. This year’s macro-environment was hard, as we saw headwinds in stocks and rotation from the stocks that were the winners in the past (mainly tech) into stocks that were serial under-performers before this year (for example, energy stocks). As a result, while the main indexes dropped about ~20% till now, most traders saw a more severe drawdown since they were over-invested in tech stocks and stocks that were previously the winners.
However, bad times don’t last forever, and there is still room to grow in the long run. History shows us that staying and investing in the stock market yields the best returns over the long run, and we see no reason it will be different this time.
We at Samurai are working every day to improve and add more value for our customers. Samurai started as a scanner, but now we have a suite of tools to help you gain and maintain an edge in the market. Looking back at 2022, we are proud of what we’ve accomplished: We’ve added two entirely new models (Excel integration and Stock Scenario), and we’ve also improved our core offering. Excel Integration
We’ve started the year strong with our Excel and Google sheets integration. This integration allows you to extend the capabilities of our platform and enables us to fit your workflow better.
- Our integration supports the Excel web, desktop, and Google sheets.
- We’ve added a unique ‘floating formula’ logic that allows you to create custom tools using our data. Read more in our help article.
- We’ve added templates that help you start fast and increase our platform’s capabilities.

Stock Scenario
The Stock Scenario is another completely new model we developed and released in 2022. It allows you to find the optimal trade, given your asset outlook. This tool helps compare different strategies on the same ticker and find the optimal trade. It is also very flexible and allows you to define your scenario and parameters using variables unique to the stock (like analyst target, volatility, and more). Some of the main features:
- Allows you to find the best trade for a given stock and scenario (see our example for the Twitter buyout).
- You can define the scenario using variables like ATR, Moving average, analyst targets, etc.
- You can see if a stock appears in your saved scans or our predefined scans.
- We use advanced calculation for the Expected Value using Monte Carlo to give more information when comparing different trades.

Improved our core capabilities
In 2022 we also continued to improve our core capabilities according to your feedback. These improvements added information to our platform and scanner and made the site more accessible and more powerful.
Some of the major additions:
- Improved the Center of Mass report – adding more frequencies and an appendix for all stocks so you can check your watchlist.
- Scanner improvements: Added predefined scans, added data, and filters, improved some filters UI, and allowed to open trades in a new tab.
- More information for the scanner and Excel: Such as technical indicators, real volatility, and more.
- Webinars and Videos: We’ve added videos presenting the platform and dove in-depth into some options-trading concepts and how to use them in Samurai. You can check some of our Webinars and videos here.
- Affiliate program and free information (end of day) from our platform.

Option Samurai in 2023
We are not done, and we continue to work daily to improve our platform and add more value. We read and reply to every email and message you send and take the feedback seriously when we plan the next versions (so feel free to reach out and suggest things that will improve your trading).

- Unique Open Interest report that will give more visibility into the market participants’ position.
- Streaming data to the scanner.
- New design for the scanner improvement of data that will make the scanner better and easier to use.
- More data and filters for our scanner and Excel integration.
