This week my scan showed some interesting trades, you can see the past scan results in my previous posts.
As a reminder: I’m looking to open positions in good companies that distribute dividends in the next 5-30 days. I’m selling covered calls on those stocks so I will profit from the dividend and the option premium.
I read an inserting article about dividend and growth this week. Dividends grew 12% in 2014 and are expected to grow by 8% in 2015. This is very good news for dividend investors and it helps explain the edge dividend investing has over growth stocks. We will write about it in future posts. Meanwhile you should read the Factset article.
Dividends per share (DPS) grew 11.9% to $38.77 in the trailing twelve-month (TTM) period ending in January. This marked the 16th consecutive quarter in which DPS for the S&P 500 has grown at doubledigit rates. Over this 16-quarter window, DPS for the index has seen average growth of 14.1%.

The dividend capture watch-list:
* I’m short VALE via long puts so I don’t think it is a good trade. I like WDC and I find CHK interesting as a short-term trade, but with current oil prices I might skip it..
